Synopsis

SOS returns to MAST Mayflower Studios in January 2023 with Evita, the smash hit musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice based on the remarkable life of Eva Duarte, a young woman who was born into poverty and rose to become the First Lady of Argentina.

Evita started life as a rock opera concert album and quickly evolved into a West End hit, winning the Olivier Award for Best Musical in 1978 and becoming the first British Musical to win the Tony Award for Best Musical on Broadway the following year. The cinematic scope of the show plays to the Company’s many strengths, with its big dramatic scenes, strong character roles and demanding ensemble numbers – not to mention the standout hits including Don’t Cry for Me Argentina and Another Suitcase, Another Hall.

So settle back as SOS takes you on a musical journey to the beating heart of 1940s Buenos Aires where a headstrong young woman is growing in confidence, connections and power.
