Shout Festival is MAST’s latest Small Scale, Big Ideas festival – a Studio 2 festival celebrating the very best of theatre, music and cinema. Shout Festival features a series of one-night performances, telling often unheard stories.
Part circus, part serenade, partcinema, 'Human' is about the small moments that shape us. On a stage set with a trapeze, circus rope and set of drums, four performers start to tell stories from their lives, from their childhoods, and from the last 24months.
A “captivating” ( ★★★★ The Guardian) show that follows a teenage girl growing up on a Chippenham council estate. Born below the breadline, she's desperate to see beyond the neighbourhood and find hope in hopelessness.
It’s 1997. Last year England made it to the semi-finals of Euro 96, Gina G came eighth in Eurovision and 13 year-old Lizzie fell in love with the beautiful game. Lizzie’s Mum’s from India, her Dad says he’s Scottish, but she’s English, right? Saturdays are for football and Coventry City, until something happens to make Lizzie question her place in the stands. ENG-ER-LAND is an energetic play about belonging and finding out who’s really on your team.
Full of sharp one-liners, 80s classics and a host of extraordinary characters … all played by just four amazing actors, BOUNCERS is Godber’s tour de force. Hysterically funny with a touch of pathos and a whole load of nostalgia, this comic drama takes an irreverent look at the ups and downs of urban nightlife through the eyes of its eponymous ‘heroes.’
Woman, warrior, legend. For ten years Mulan disguised as a man, has fought for the Chinese Empire. Now the fighting is coming to an end, one last battle and she will be going home - but can she return to her old life, become a woman again.
